Khieu V. NGUYEN

Data Scientist at Boostrs

About

With expertise and 5+ years experience in experimental, modeling, and simulation of diffusion MRI; and 2+ years experience in both numerical methods (finite volume & finite difference) and GPU programming (via CUDA, OpenACC), I am interested in implement numerical methods for scientific and industrial problems.

Accelerate Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation of restricted diffusion in complex structures by using Octree structure & binary marker.

Developed an efficient GPU-based MC simulation of diffusion NMR.

Reduced MC simulation time from weeks (in CAMINO) to minutes or hours.

Open the possibility to: simulate the DW-NMR signal in complex cellular structures (such as astrocyte) within reasonable time, better understand in-tracellular diffusion, validate diffusion models in a complex structure.

Ph.D. Candidate

Gif-sur-Yvette, France

MRI experiments, Compressed Sensing in MRI

Proposed a DLA-based compressed sensing (CS) undersampling strategy.

Implemented DLA-based CS for quantitative T1-weighted (T1w) and T2- weighted (T2w) imaging.

Implemented CS-RARE (T2w) and CS-FLASH (T1w) sequences (in Bruker system, ParaVision 5 & 6) and used to image neuronal tissue.

CS sequences help to reduced up to 50% acquisition time while preserves the SNR, resolution and contrast.

Diffusion MRI: experiments & simulations

Acquired and analyzed the time-dependent dMRI data in the Aplysia neuronal network for 3 cell types: large cell neurons, bag cell neurons, and nerves.

Retrieved microstructural information of the neuronal tissue by comparing diffusion MRI data and diffusion MRI simulations.
